Joanna Hartle
Joanna Hartle is an Essex-based artist from the Midlands, known in more recent times as a Production Director and Executive Producer and changemaker for which she was recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2023. Her work has been seen across the globe since 1989. In the last few years, she has stopped hiding her art practice under a bush.
Joanna Hartle creates work that spans film (still and moving image), writing, sculpture and installation, looking at liminal spaces and the unseen often unspoken emotions attached to people and places. Her current work explores the emotions of lived experience, capturing moments with authenticity. As she rounds off one chapter of her life, and a new exciting one begins, her relationship to the wider world has been reawakened through her inquisitiveness of colour, shape and form.
