Lolly Adams
‘#selflovevomit’ (2021) mixed media sculpture
“It’s a bird..It’s a plane...No! It’s #selflovevomit” Lolly’s been skip diving, ordering ‘job lot surprise boxes’ from closed down wholesalers and collecting plastic packaging from the local Primark that was on its way to landfill. Over time this site specific work has developed into a cascading mess of human existence; pink, gloopy innards with fake eyelashes are fused with hangers and Poundland detritus that spiral toward a grinning inflatable shark. This piece is about our relationship with objects, consumerism as a sickness and its burdening effects on our mind, our land and our future. Lolly’s work relates to portraiture and is often about excess, value, emotional baggage and holding on.
